The weight is almost always scanned images
A heavy PDF is nearly always heavy because of the images inside it: scanned paperwork, reports with photos pasted in, documents made by photographing pages. A text-only PDF is light to begin with and barely shrinks.
This tool redraws each page, re-encodes it as JPEG and assembles a new PDF. That works very well on scans and much less on vector drawings or text-heavy documents.
Your file is never uploaded
This tool does not upload anything. From the moment you pick a file until you save the result, every step runs on your device, inside this browser tab. With contracts, medical records or scans of ID, that difference matters.
Your file is never sent over the network, so nothing is stored on a server and there is nothing to delete later. No account, no sign-in.
How to use it
Three steps. Up to 10 files at once.
- 1Add a PDFTap the + button to pick a PDF, or drag it anywhere onto the page on desktop. The first page and the page count appear.
- 2Choose a quality levelLow, Medium or High. The moment you choose, the file is actually compressed and you see "original size → output size". The number on screen is the file you are about to save.
- 3Save or shareSave downloads the compressed PDF. Two or more come down as a single ZIP.
Which quality level to pick
The three levels set the JPEG quality used when each page is re-encoded: 10%, 30% and 70%. Page size (A4 and so on) is unchanged at every level.

How much you save depends on the document. Lots of photos or scans compress heavily; pure text and shapes barely move, or grow. When the result would grow, the original is handed back instead.
Worth knowing
- ⚠️ Text selection and search are lost
- Pages are redrawn as images, so the letters in the result are pictures. You cannot copy or search them, and a screen reader cannot read them. If the text must survive, this is not the right tool.
- The result is never larger than the original
- Vector drawings and text-heavy documents grow when turned into images. When that happens the original bytes are handed back instead.
- Password-protected PDFs are refused
- A PDF that asks for a password to open is rejected. Save an unlocked copy first.
- Many pages take time
- Every page is redrawn and re-encoded. A few hundred pages can take tens of seconds in a browser, with a progress bar.
